  1. Brotli beat zstd on our JavaScript. Then zstd won by 130×.

    We expected the modern compressor to win. On a 23 KB script it didn't, until we gave it something Brotli already had.

  2. Our fade-in animation hid our own LCP

    A monitoring company's homepage measured 2.31 s LCP on its first build. The culprit was a 0.7-second fade-in, and the fix was deleting it.
